An origin-destination
study is performed to determine traffic patterns
within an area of interest. In
general, this data is utilized by planners and
engineers to aid in long-range planning. However,
it can also be used to address more localized
concerns, such as to measure cut-through traffic.
Different methods are used by CBB based on the needs
of a particular project. These methods include home
interviews, roadside interviews, questionnaires,
license plate matching surveys and postcard
surveys. In planning applications, land use and
growth trend analysis studies often augment the
origin-destination studies to provide a
comprehensive, long-range analysis. CBB has
in-house capabilities to perform origin-destination
studies using all of the above-mentioned methods.
