DELAY STUDIES

A Vehicle Delay Study is conducted to quantify the delays that motorists actually experience when using a transportation facility.  These studies are often employed to measure the delays on each approach to a signalized intersection and thereby assess the performance of an operating signal.  The direct measurement of motorist delay provides a quick, reliable method for determining the efficiency of an intersection.  It also provides an accurate means of evaluating the effectiveness of signal timing changes, which allows CBB’s traffic signal engineers to fine-tune the timing of signals in the field.  CBB’s data collection staff frequently conducts vehicle delay studies for private businesses, developers, government agencies and municipalities.
