Meet the Staff Monday: Jim Kane, EIT

It is time again for our favorite blog post, because you get to meet the people behind all of the work at CBB! This week, we introduce you to Jim Kane, EIT. Jim joined CBB in June 2014 (congrats on your upcoming 1-year anniversary!) as a Transportation Studies Specialist. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Saint Louis University. In his role at CBB he is involved in CBB’s transportation study efforts. We sat down with Jim to get some more information about him.

1. My favorite thing to do in St. Louis is: Eat! I love going to places like Pappy’s for barbecue, Llywelyn’s for a burger and a beer, Cherokee Street for some tamales, and obviously Ted Drewe’s.

2. Aside from my role at CBB, my other job is: Murder for hire….OK that is a lie, sorry – I just wanted to seem cool. No, for real though, my other job is music. I sing, play guitar, and dabble in a few other instruments. At SLU, I was in the all-male a cappella group, Bare Naked Statues, and I still help the group out by arranging songs for them and mentoring. They’re really good, you should check ’em out.

3. The best concert I have ever been to: this is a tie between Paul McCartney and Beyoncé – my two heroes and that is NOT a joke!

4. The sport I most enjoy watching (skip if you are not a Blackhawks fan): I was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. Gotta go with my White Sox baseball. However, the Blackhawks are a close second, and they’re a little easier to brag about to all my St. Louisan coworkers.

5. My favorite thing about working at CBB is: Continuing to get to know all the brilliant people that work here. Everyone is kind and very good at their job, and no one has threatened to fire me for my devotion to Chicago sports teams.
