Broadway Avenue, Park Avenue, and 7th Street Intersection Redesign
In 2011, CBB completed the design of major intersection improvements that include the removal and replacement of the median on Broadway Avenue, installation of new curb ramps, sidewalk and lighting as well as a decorative paved tree lawn with wells. This traffic improvement and enhancement project included the installation of two new traffic signals as well as pedestrian enhancements in the Historic Soulard District.
Project Highlights include:
Removal of an existing section of South Broadway Avenue and reconfiguration of the intersection allowed the removal of an existing traffic signal, substantially reducing project costs as well as creating excess right of way for the adjacent development to utilize.
Pavement markings and signage for bicyclists on this section on the Mississippi River Trail were incorporated within the project limits.
Turnouts at the relocated bus stops were provided to prevent Metro buses from blocking traffic while allowing for safer loading and unloading of passengers.
Milling and repaving using EnviroPave bituminous product within the project limits.
ADA upgrades for pedestrians, including new sidewalk, colored, stamped tree lawn and signalized crossings.
Existing streetlights were relocated from the median and others reused throughout the project.
