Feature Friday – Civic Traffic, Parking & Circulation Study

With 2015 in full swing, we are going to start some new blog features to highlight the wonderful work CBB is doing within the St. Louis region, as well as introduce you to the fabulous people behind the hard work! Check back on Fridays for our “Friday Feature,” where you can get information on a CBB project – in progress, recently completed or one of our any of our past jobs. We hope you will enjoy learning about our work!

Feature Friday starts with a project currently underway in the Shaw Neighborhood in the City of St. Louis. CBB is completing a Civic Traffic, Parking and Circulation Study for the St. Margaret of Scotland School, located on Castleman Ave. between Lawrence and 39th Streets. The St. Margaret of Scotland Parish has been a part of the Shaw Neighborhood for over 100 years, and the school since 1918. After years of growth and increased enrollment, the school is adding a new building to house its Middle School at the Southeast Corner of Shaw and Lawrence.

In addition to this new school building, the Shaw Neighborhood is a vibrant and growing community, with an active Neighborhood Improvement Association, and streets spotted with shops and restaurants that attract many locals. With exciting growth comes a need to plan for future development and CBB is working to complete a study that can assist with those efforts.

CBB is currently in the process of collecting data and working the stakeholders. The team held a community open house on Wednesday 2/4 to get public input and feedback. The next workshop is set for March 11. The project will culminate with a report summarizing data collections and observations made during the study period. This report will also include various alternatives regarding circulation and parking to be used during new neighborhood development.  It is an exciting time for the Shaw Neighborhood and we are proud to be a part of this growing period!
