CBB recently partnered with MoDOT and other agencies across Missouri for the Buckle Up, Phone Down Challenge. The challenge was simple: buckle your seatbelt when getting into a vehicle, and put cell phones down if you are the driver. The company pledge included requiring seatbelt use in all company vehicles and banning cellphone use in company vehicles. Employees made the same pledge individually.
The challenge is designed to reduce fatal crashes in Missouri. In 2016, 63% of people killed in traffic crashes were unbuckled. Additionally, 94% of crashes were due to human error. Crashes involving cell phones rose 17% in 2015, and drivers who are texting and driving are 23 times more likely to be in a critical incident.
CBB is proud to take this step to reducing traffic crashes and fatalities.
